Dateline: 3-5-22 – Unlike last month’s soggy show, the weather for our February Corvette Show was Florida Perfect!
Ever since John started running the HCC Shows at the American Legion, the schedule has been consistent; the fourth Saturday of every month from October through into May, from 11 am to 2 pm. The only time we have ever varied from that schedule was last December because the fourth Saturday happened to be Christmas.
For our February Show we had 22 Corvettes and a good time was had by all. We had eight Door Prize winners that included: Mike Kusma (a Huston Chevrolet Corvette oil change); Buddy Hodgsen (Advanced Auto box); Pat Brantley (O’Reilly’s Bucket); Bruce Cornelius (Auto Zone Bucket); Gas Cards for Dick Roddie, Wayne Lafferty, and Larry Metz, and Dave Zellers (Oscar’s Restaurant Gift Certificate).
And lastly, the Winner of our $60 50/50 was Keith “Mr. Lucky” Lang! We’ll be calling him “Lucky Lang” for some time now.
Our attendance was off because the SVRA Car Show and Racing Event came to town and packed the Sebring International Raceway track. The Saturday Car Show was packed and many took advantage of going out on the track in the early afternoon for a few slow laps. Toni Strolo made arrangements for Corvettes-Only laps around 6 pm, just as the sun was going down. With a lot fewer cars on the track, the pace was brisk and fun! Worth waiting for.
Our next Highlands County Corvettes Car Show will be on March 26, 2022 at our home, American Legion, Post 25, on Rt. 27, in Lake Placid, Florida. Our weekly Friday Breakfast at Oscar’s Family Restaurant on Rt. 27 in Sebring is going strong. Typically we get around 25 Corvette guys and gals. If you haven’t joined us, we meet between 8:15 and 8:30 am and have a private room.
Thanks, everyone. Save the Wave! – Scott, John, & Mary Carol
